We are pleased to be repeating our much sought after tour to The Republic of Ireland.
Our tour takes in the very best that the Republic of Ireland has to offer, staying in the cities of Dublin and Cork, as well as the county town of Kilkenny.
Ireland is often called the Emerald Isle because of the powerful greenness of its countryside. It is a land of mountains, lakes, and rolling farmland, with an ancient history and world-famous literary tradition. Ireland enjoys over 1,448km of spectacular coastline, surrounded by the mighty Atlantic to the west and the Irish Sea to the east. As well as towering cliffs, clear fresh waters and pristine sandy beaches, the coastline enjoys lively fishing villages

A Highlight
Ireland’s second largest city is Cork and we have a 2 night stay here, located on the south western shores of the country. Cork has always been an important seaport. It began on an island in the swampy estuary of the River Lee and gradually climbed up the steep banks on either side. Today the river flows through Cork city in two main channels, so that you find yourself constantly crossing bridges. While in Cork we take time to visit the famous Killarney National Park and the Ring of Kerry, as well as the Jameson Whiskey Distillery and the historic port of Cobh

Agriculture
The total land area of Ireland is 6.9 million hectares, of which, almost 5 million hectares is used for agricultural and forestry purposes. Most of the land is rolling hills and farmland interspersed with rivers. The total number of farms in Ireland was 141,500 in 2000 down from 223,400 in 1980. Almost all of these being family owned and operated, with an average farm size of 31.4 hectares.
The climate is well suited to growing grass and 80% of the agricultural area is devoted to this, 11% to rough grazing and 9% to crop production. Beef and milk production currently account for over half of the total agricultural output. There are almost 6.5 million cattle, 4.8 million sheep, 1.8 million pigs and over 13 million poultry. Among the leading crops are flax, oats, wheat, turnips, potatoes, sugar beets and barley.
We take in a number of farm visits including a leading dairy herd and a pedigree beef farm, as well as a visit to the famous National Stud.
Thank you for a wonderful holiday.
Having booked with slight trepidation about joining an organised tour, we are now absolute converts! I am sure you will be seeing us again, and soon!
Your organisation and attention to detail was First class -catering for each and every whim!
The hotels were excellent and you took us to places we would never have been able to visit on our own.
