Meet the Bay Farm Tours Team

Behind every tour is a busy team working to bring your Bay Farm Tour to life.

We know it's important to know who you're dealing with so we've put the faces to names so you can find out a little bit more about us as individuals.

Allison

I am the office manager. I make sure everything is absolutely perfect and organised so that you don’t have to worry about a thing during your holiday. We contact the relevant airlines, hotels, tourist sites, hosts etc. to pull everything together and build your tour.

The best piece of travel advice I've received?

Share a suitcase with your partner. Each put half of your things in one another's case, that way, if one goes missing, you will still both have half your clothes.

On my bucket list:

I’m waiting to win the lottery so I can follow the England & Scotland rugby teams and the England cricket team around the world just watching sport!

What I can't travel without?

My toothbrush

Sales & Marketing, when you receive an update from us by email or have a laugh at our social media pages that was probably me.

Top travel hack: Book with Bay Farm Tours, let the staff organise everything for you and turn up at the airport with your passport. (Can you tell I’m in the sales dept?)

Favourite country: Scotland, sorry! You can take the girl out of Scotland but you can’t take Scotland out of the girl. Beautiful scenery, great people and, what makes a place, happy memories.

On my bucket list: I would like to visit India one day. I love the culture, the cuisine and the vibrancy.  Our customers always come back from India with a wealth of new experiences,  ones I would like to try!

Fellow Director with my husband Neil, I look after staffing and issues around this in addition to assisting with anything I am asked to do.

How long have you worked for Bay Farm Tours? I have worked here since 2011 having taken voluntary early retirement from my post with the Local Authority in a team working with adopters and foster carers.

Favourite country: I really don’t have a favourite country, it’s usually the last one I visited, I just love experiencing different cultures and environments.

On my bucket list: My bucket list is far too long to write down but I have always wanted to visit Ann Franks House in Amsterdam after reading her diary when I was at school.

I develop the tours, which means choosing the locations,  finding hotels, tourist visits, farm hosts, meals etc.  I love to research new places with the ultimate aim of trying to give you the best experience and time of your lives!

The best piece of travel advice I've received?

Trust your judgement, it’s usually right

Favourite place:

Easy – Africa,  because it’s full of diversity and has a unique atmosphere that draws you into its contrasting adventures – and I love the people!

On my bucket list:

Either riding a motorbike or getting a Land Rover and driving from home to the coast in Namibia via the Okavango Delta in Botswana.  Why wouldn’t you? Adventure, fun, memory box experiences – and a little bit wild!!

I take care of the planning & logistics of tours from contacting hotels, transport providers, sightseeing to agricultural visits. I love researching destinations and finding unique places to visit.

Travel hack

Stay hydrated while travelling, as airplane cabins tend to be dry. Consider taking an empty refillable bottle to fill up once you are through security.

Favourite place:

Easy - Australia. I am fortunate to have visited this amazing diverse country several times in my travel career. It has so much to offer along with great food, laid back happy people , fantastic beaches, iconic cities, stunning natural wonders and beautiful countryside what’s not to love. Can’t wait to go back.

On my bucket list:

I would love to visit Western Canada and do an Alaskan Cruise up the Inside Passage. I visited briefly about 20 years ago with work, but would love to have a proper holiday here and include a few days on a ranch as I love to ride horses.

What I can't travel without?

A good pair of trekking sandals or trainers to make sure my feet are comfortable for a day of exploring and adventure.

I am the accounts administrator. I make sure that all your hotels, coach companies and ferry crossings are paid for as well as your flights, visits and tour managers. Basically I pay for everything included in the tours, which is a lot!

How long have you worked for Bay Farm Tours? I have worked here for almost 2 years and loved every minute of it!

Favourite country: Australia, I spent 6 months working & backpacking, I fell in love with the place. The culture and the flora & fauna in Australia are like nowhere else.

On my bucket list: New Zealand, I'm a big Lord of the Rings fan & I'm a rugby fan. I would love to watch the All Blacks play and visit the filming locations of the Lord of the Rings. I'm also interested in learning about the Maori culture.

What I can’t travel without?

My phone & suncream

Neil

I co-founded Bay Farm Tours with my parents Angus and Betty. I develop new tours and destinations, along with other business management. You may meet me in my role as Tour Manager or find me on the end of the phone when you telephone the office.

Funniest travel memory:

When the coach left without me in Vancouver on the Canadian East Coast To West Tour. The group had persuaded the tour driver to drive round the block. Fortunately they reappeared before I had time to really start panicking!

On my bucket list:

Japan, because I have heard so much about the culture and cannot wait to experience it for myself.

The best piece of travel advice I've received?

Don’t wait – do it while you can.

What can't you leave home without?

My own hairdryer!!

Planning & logistics of the tours from contacting hotels, transport providers, sightseeing & agricultural visits to managing our client database and much more.

Favourite Country:

Spain, because it’s full of beautiful beaches, cosmopolitan cities, fabulous food, stunning scenery, vibrant villages and sunshine. It really has got it all.

Top Travel Hack:

Take a 4 plug extension cable, great when there are a lack of plug sockets in your hotel room (especially useful when cruising).

On my bucket list:

Petra, Jordan. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage site, also known as the ‘Rose City’  because of the colour of the rock from which it is carved, built back in the 3rd Century BC, and designed to take your breath away.

What I can’t travel without:

Travel heated rollers

I’m the one who books all of the flights and ensures you get your travel preferences. I also plan tours, contacting hotels, transport providers, sightseeing & agricultural visits to managing our client database and much more.

Top Travel Hack

When packing your suitcase, roll your clothes into tube shapes rather than folding. It creates more space and prevents your clothes from creasing. I also always travel with a black bin liner to keep dirty washing separate.

Favourite country:

Zanzibar,  this was our most memorable family holiday.  We all live in different parts of the world and it was the first time in 19 years that we spent a Christmas together. Definitely one to remember.

What’s on my bucket list:

I've always wanted to visit Tahiti to learn about the culture, do some sightseeing, followed by a cocktail or two sitting on the beach and watching the sun go down.
