Predominantly a rural county Cheshire boasts small towns and villages which support agriculture and other related industries such as cheese making. Found in the northwest of England the county covers 905 square miles with a population of around 1 million. The neighbouring county of Derbyshire is home to the stunning Peak District National Park. This was the first area in the country to be designated a National Park and was given the title in 1951.

This tour offers a flavour of both areas with a balance of tourist and agricultural visits at a pace to suit everyone. As we stay in one hotel for the duration of the tour you can dip in and out of our daily itinerary as you wish.

Agriculture

Cheshire's agriculture is generally based on dairy farming, and cattle are the predominant livestock. There is some arable farming found in the northern plains with hard red spring wheat, durum wheat and winter wheat being the main crops found.

The Peak District is also predominantly livestock and dairy, with grazing sheep found across the region and we will visit various agricultural enterprises during our tour.

Sightseeing

Our tour features Jodrell Bank, with its giant Lovell Telescope. Which has for over 50 years been a well-known feature of the Cheshire landscape and a celebrated landmark in the world of astronomy.

We take in the sights and sounds of the beautiful and historic city of Chester with free time and, of course, we cannot forget the magnificent and opulent Chatsworth House, that has been in the Cavendish family for 16 generations.

Our Hotel

We stay at the De Vere Cranage Estate Hotel, which was formerly the country seat of the Armistead family.  With lovely manicured green lawns and gardens surrounding this Grade II listed building it is an ideal place to relax. There is a selection of lounges found on the ground floor with outdoor areas to enjoy, weather permitting. The hotel also offers a fully equipped gym along with a heated swimming pool, steam room and spa pool.

Dairy Farm

Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

Having booked with slight trepidation about joining an organised tour, we are now absolute converts! I am sure you will be seeing us again, and soon!

Your organisation and attention to detail was First class -catering for each and every whim!

The hotels were excellent and you took us to places we would never have been able to visit on our own.
