Hello everyone, welcome to the Bay Farm Tours Journal. This is our first ever blog post! We thought starting a blog would be a good way to tell people more about our tours and what we offer, with opportunity for you to chat among yourselves and discuss our trips with one another.
A lot of our tours are full already for 2026 but we have places available on our excellent Croatia Tour, so we thought we would tell you all about it in today's post.
Take a look at the gallery at the bottom of this blog to see photos from our most recent Croatia trip 🤩
Throughout this tour, we have combined olive groves, vineyards, dairy farming, sheep and goat enterprises, pig production and truffle hunting with cultural visits and coastal scenery. As with all Bay Farm Tours programmes, we have ensured time for discussion with farmers and hosts, offering genuine insight into rural life and agricultural practice.
We believe this itinerary offers an enjoyable and well-paced introduction to Croatia, and we very much look forward to sharing it with you. 🌾
Croatia Including The Istria Peninsula & Dalmatian Coast
1st–10th October 2026
We have carefully prepared this 9-night itinerary to Croatia, combining coastal scenery, historic towns and a varied agricultural programme at a comfortable and enjoyable pace. October offers pleasant temperatures and fewer visitors, making it an ideal time to explore.
We believe this tour offers a well-balanced blend of farming visits, cultural interest and time to relax.
Day 1 – Thursday 1 October
Manchester to Pula – On to Rovinj ✈️
We fly direct from Manchester to Pula and travel by coach to our hotel in Rovinj, with lunch en-route.
Rovinj is a traditional fishing town with a working harbour and attractive waterfront. We have allowed time this afternoon for you to settle in, take a stroll or simply relax before dinner. Our four-night stay here gives us the opportunity to explore the Istrian Peninsula without the need to repack.
Day 2 – Friday 2 October
Boskarin Cattle & Poreč 🐄
This morning we visit one of the region’s leading agricultural enterprises, farming the traditional Boskarin cattle breed. We feel this visit provides an excellent introduction to Croatian livestock farming. A light lunch is included.
Later, we visit the 6th-century Euphrasian Basilica in Poreč. Its mosaics are a particular highlight. There will be time to explore at your own pace before returning to Rovinj. Evening at leisure.

Day 3 – Saturday 3 October
Pula, Goat Farm & Olive Groves 🫒
We travel to Pula to visit the Roman amphitheatre, Pula Arena, one of the best-preserved of its kind. Many of our guests consider this a memorable part of the tour.
In the afternoon, we visit a goat farm for tastings, followed by one of Croatia’s largest olive and vineyard enterprises. Seeing the modern processing facilities alongside long-established traditions gives real insight into how agriculture has developed here. Dinner is taken at a local restaurant in Rovinj this evening.
Day 4 – Sunday 4 October
Truffle Hunting & Winery Visit 🍷
Today is often a highlight for guests. We travel into the Motovun Forest region to visit a family-run truffle enterprise. Watching the trained dogs at work is always fascinating, and we enjoy tastings of local truffle produce.
We also visit a local winery for a guided tasting before returning to Rovinj for a relaxed evening.
Day 5 – Monday 5 October
Across Country to Zadar 🚍
After checking out, we begin our journey south towards Zadar.
En-route, we stop at Otočac to see a traditional water mill demonstration. This visit gives a useful understanding of historic grain processing methods. Lunch is included before we continue along the Dalmatian coastline.
We arrive at our coastal hotel near Zadar for a three-night stay.
Day 6 – Tuesday 6th October
Organic Estate & Zadar 🌿
We have allowed for a relaxed start this morning before visiting a family-run organic estate in Nadin, set within extensive vineyards. We tour the small museum, hear about the family’s history and enjoy tastings and lunch.
Later, we spend time in Zadar. After dinner, those who wish may experience the distinctive Sea Organ on the waterfront.

Day 7 – Wednesday 7th October
Island of Pag & Dairy Visit 🧀
We travel to the island of Pag, well known for sheep farming and its distinctive cheese. We visit an award-winning dairy, where we learn about production methods and sample the produce.
The afternoon allows time to relax back at our hotel before dinner.
Day 8 – Thursday 8th October
Krka National Park & On to Split 🌊
After checking out, we visit Krka National Park, where there is opportunity to enjoy the scenery at a comfortable pace.
Later, we visit a regional pig enterprise that has diversified into hospitality. Lunch with our hosts provides valuable time for discussion about farming life in the region.
We continue to Split for our final two nights.

Day 9 – Friday 9th October
Dalmatian Hinterland & Omiš 🚤
We drive into the Dalmatian hinterland for a guided visit to a traditional ethno village, with tastings of regional dishes and sweets.
We then continue to Omiš for a boat trip along the Cetina River canyon, which many guests find a fitting and relaxing conclusion to the tour. Our farewell dinner is taken at the hotel this evening.
Day 10 – Saturday 10th October
Return to Manchester 🛫
After breakfast, we transfer to Split Airport for our return flight to Manchester.
