Sightseeing
We visit the impressive windmills of Kinderdijk, an iconic symbol of Dutch water management. Built in the 18th century, these 19 historic windmills were used to pump water and keep the low laying land dry. Today, they are an UNSECO World Heritage site and a popular destination to admire traditional Dutch engineering and scenic landscapes.
Another treat is the Flower Auction at Aalsmeer, the largest in the world. Flowers from all over the globe pass through, with many being flown in overnight before being distributed

Weather
The weather should be warmer than the UK and bright. It is cooler in the evenings and may rain, so bring layers

Agriculture
The Netherlands is one of the world’s largest agricultural producers exporting vegetables, fruit, flowers, meat and dairy products. After the U.S the Netherlands is the biggest exporter of agricultural produce in the world.
Our visits will incorporate several agricultural and horticultural establishments including a flower grower, a floating cattle farm, cheese production and a dairy farm and an organic farm with greenhouses producing salad crops such as tomatoes.
Highlight - Arnhem
The British War Cemetery, commonly known as the Airborne Cemetery at Oosterbeek near Arnham. Here we see the war graves of British soldiers who were killed on Dutch territory during the second world war. The majority of whom were killed in the Allied attempt to cross the Rhine in 1944. This battle was the focus of the book and the film ‘A Bridge Too Far’.
The same day in the afternoon we visit the open-air museum in Arnhem, which covers the vast area of approximately 110 acres, where we will discover farming through the years, as the museum shows agricultural history in the Netherlands alongside history from other industries.

Thank you to all of the Bay Farm Tours team for a fantastic Rhine & Moselle River Cruise. We loved being with such great likeminded people. The trips before and after the cruise were excellent. It was so good we have booked another River Cruise with Bay Farm Tours for next year. We hope to see you there.
