Trip of a lifetime

We are so excited to present to you the details of our tour to Japan!

We have been working on the itinerary for a long time, and our first departure went early in 2025. It was a great success. Our Japanese guide Yumi is a great addition to our team and as always you will be escorted from the UK by one of our experienced tour managers.

Our tour features the vibrant cities of Kyoto and Tokyo and the speed of the famous Bullet Train. Enjoy the delights of a traditional Japanese tea ceremony, along with an incredible visit to Mount Fuji World Heritage Centre.

Sightseeing

As ever, we aim to balance our tours with a mixture of cultural, historic, scenic and agricultural visits. Mount Fuji in all its glory (weather permitting). It is a magnificent sight and is synonymous with Japan. We visit the city of Hiroshima now a vibrant and modern city offering a unique blend of history, culture and natural beauty, though of course the devastation caused by the atomic bomb in 1945 can never be forgotten. As we are visiting in March, we will hope to enjoy the cherry blossom which Japan is so famous for. Whilst it can never be guaranteed when the blossom will be in bloom the timing of our visit gives us the optimum opportunity to see this magnificent sight.

Our next tour is departing in 2027, it sold out very quickly so we are looking into releasing a second departure. Register your interest for a full itinerary, and we will keep you up to date.

Agriculture

Currently Japan has a total of approx. 3.2 million hectares of arable land, of which 1.7 million hectares are solely cultivated for rice and wheat, this is due to the mountainous nature of the islands. Rice paddies occupy most of the countryside. The non-paddy farmland offers crops such as wheat and barley in the autumn, with sweet potatoes, vegetables and dry rice in the summer.  Livestock farming is limited due to the mountainous terrain, the most famous being beef production, namely Wagyu cattle. There is some dairy farming and pigs and sheep production. Not surprisingly for an island nation fishing is an important industry. Japan imports much of its food due to its limited agricultural land and its large population

Once more Bay Farm Tours scored

10 out of 10 with the Lake Garda holiday.

I enjoyed every minute. The friendship and atmosphere amongst the group was exceptional.

Our tour manager never stopped working to make sure everything went according to plan, and it did, along with lots of fun and laughter, which made it a wonderful tour
