We are excited to announce our new tour to Sardinia, come and join us as we explore the sights and sounds of this incredible and beautiful Mediterranean island off the west coast of Italy. Sardinia is the second largest Island with nearly 2,000kms of unspoilt coastline, sumptuous beaches and a mountainous area covering the central areas. The Sardinians are passionate about food, family and festivals and so this new adventure will, hopefully, give you an insight into this special and alluring part of Italy.
We have prepared a good balance of agricultural enterprises and tourist visits with some down time to enjoy the hotels and surrounding areas.
We base ourselves in the southern part of the island for the first half of the tour – a quieter, more rugged and relaxed charm of this area, before heading northwest to the coastal areas, whilst still experiencing the mountainous areas en-route.

Visiting Sardinia offers an unforgettable experience, with its stunning landscapes, rich history, and vibrant culture. The island’s natural beauty is one of its biggest draws, from the white sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters to the rugged mountains of Gennargentu. The ancient, UNESCO-listed, Nuragic ruins, offer a glimpse into Sardinia’s mysterious past, dating back to the Bronze Age.
Sardinia is also known for its agricultural wealth. The island’s varied climate allows for the cultivation of a wide range of crops. It’s renowned for its vineyards, olive groves are widespread, and Sardinia’s extra virgin olive oil is highly prized. The island also produces exceptional cheeses, including Pecorino Sardo, a sheep’s milk cheese with a distinctive flavour. Sardinia’s rural areas are dotted with farms growing fruits, vegetables, and cereals, and the island’s cuisine reflects this abundance, with many dishes relying on local, fresh ingredients.
Agriculture
Sardinia’s agriculture is as diverse as it’s landscape, with a variety of enterprises that hopefully showcase the different farming aspects of this Island. It is also a part of Italy that thrives on deep rooted agricultural traditions emphasizing sustainable farming and organic methods. There are many citrus orchards harvesting oranges, limes and lemons, along with almonds and of course, olive groves. There is also some goat and sheep farming with products like cheese, milk and meat being an important part of the local economy.
Sardinia has a thriving fish farming community and is also known for its Grenache wine, which is created from ancient vines, some of which are still present and being harvested today.

I write to thank you for the wonderful tour to Canada, from which we recently returned. We both thoroughly enjoyed the whole trip and appreciate all your attention to detail. Each day was different and we continue to talk about our varied itinerary with an interesting balance of farm visits, cities and gardens.
We highly recommend Bay Farm Tours and look forward to travelling with you again.
