Agriculture
Farming holds a special place in the hearts of many of the communities of the both the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District. Their farming practices form a vital part of the National Parks future and continue to deliver high-quality livestock despite the rugged and sometimes challenging landscapes.
Possibly the highlight of our agricultural visits will be a day at Westmorland Show, renowned as an excellent ‘true’ agricultural show with good animal classes, rural crafts, local produce and even Cumberland Wrestling, a unique form of wrestling traditional in the Cumbria region.

The Lakes
The Lake District – also known as the Lakes or Lakeland is famous for its lakes, forests and mountains (known locally as fells) and includes the highest mountain in England, Scafell Pike. It also boasts the deepest and longest bodies of water in England, Wastwater and Windermere.
Bowness-on-Windermere is one of the largest and most accessible towns to visit, situated on the shores of Windermere with boat rides, shops and beautiful Lakeland slate buildings a real tourist ‘hot spot’.
You cannot fail to be impressed by the beautiful scenery you will encounter as we visit these very special regions of Northern England.
The Dales
The Yorkshire Dales is possibly best known for its limestone, it is everywhere, uphill and down dale, whether it’s for creating dry stone walls, farm buildings or left in its original state – the limestone pavements; you can’t help but admire their raw charm.
There are picture perfect villages and small market towns to enjoy as well as a rich heritage, including some incredible castles and abbeys.
The county of Cumbria was formed from the old counties of Cumberland, Westmorland, and parts of North Lancashire and North Yorkshire and is now England’s second largest county.
We have just returned home from the holiday of a lifetime: New Zealand with Bay Farm Tours! There wasn't a single hiccup, the tours with Mattey, the hotels, food, weather, the group we were in. Everyone was so nice, and our Tour Manager was absolutely first class. He was always on hand making sure everything and everyone was happy. We would like to thank you all so much for a beautiful memorable holiday.
