This region of the United States offers some of the most spectacular and breathtaking scenery in North America. We visit places of outstanding natural beauty such as, Yosemite National Park high in the Sierra Nevada mountain range, the Grand Canyon, the "old town" area of Sacramento, representing a different "era" and culture in the history of America. We also visit the modern and interesting cities of San Francisco and San Diego, as well as enjoying the ”Razzmatazz” that could only be Las Vegas. There is a great variation and contrast in the geographical areas we pass through, with the high peaks of the Sierra Nevada, the abundant and diverse crops of the San Joaquin Valley and the arid conditions of Nevada.

Sightseeing
We will take you through Yosemite National Park, with magnificent scenery, enormous granite monoliths, major landmarks and waterfalls.
The far Mid-West is where the Rocky Mountains meet the Great Plains. The natural vegetation of the grasslands makes this area a favourable place for livestock production. This is real ranch country! We stop to visit several working ranches, providing an opportunity to see ranching as it really is, and allowing time for you to talk to our hosts over a barbecue lunch or dinner.
Weather
During the day we expect 25-30°C and cooler in the evening. This will be more comfortable than a similar temperature at home due to the low humidity.

Agriculture
Visits on the tour will highlight the contrast of conditions in this area of America. We make agricultural visits in the San Joaquin Valley, the area responsible for 50% of the agricultural produce of the state, with agriculture still being the number one industry.
It is worth remembering that if California were an independent country it would be the 5th most productive country in the world. The variety of crops grown in the state is colossal - from artichokes to courgettes, alfalfa to wheat, apples to satsumas, and almonds to pistachios - you name it, it's probably grown here.
Our Hotels
Most of our hotels are centrally located within the towns and cities we visit, offering the opportunity of walking out from the hotel in the evenings.
In San Francisco our hotel is located right in the heart of Fisherman’s Wharf, within walking distance of the piers where there is so much nightlife, and around the corner from the famous street cable cars.
When in San Diego our hotel is right on the sandy beaches of Southern California, with nothing but the boardwalk separating you from the surf of the Pacific.
In Las Vegas we stay at one of the major hotels, which is a true “resort hotel” offering excellent leisure facilities and amenities. The hotel is situated on the famous “strip” and within walking distance of the other main resort hotels and attractions
